A CALL TO HOLINESS

2 Peter 1:3-11 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Stay awake

Luke 21:34-36 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Revelation 16:15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)

HEALED WITHOUT MONEY, WITHOUT A PRICE

Acts 3

Peter and John Heal a Lame Man at the Temple

1  Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time for prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon. 🌾

2  And a man lame from birth was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called “the Beautiful Gate” every day so he could beg for money from those going into the temple courts. Joh 9:8 Act 14:8 🌾

3  When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, he asked them for money. 🌾

4  Peter looked directly at him (as did John) and said, “Look at us!” 🌾

5  So the lame man paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. 🌾

6  But Peter said, “I have no silveror gold, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, stand up and walk!” Act 4:10

7  Then Peter took hold of him by the right hand and raised him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong. 🌾

8  He jumped up, stood and began walking around, and he entered the temple courts with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 🌾

9  All the people saw him walking and praising God, 🌾

10  and they recognized him as the man who used to sit and ask for donations at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with astonishment and amazement at what had happened to him.
